Doctor's Appt Update

Everything is still going well. I am now 15 pounds over my pre-pregnancy weight. The doctor said I will probably gain another 10 pounds or so (and I already feel really huge!!) but that I will very surprised b/c I will probably lose the weight pretty quickly too after the baby has arrived. The baby's heartbeat was still good and strong at 157. He's been moving around constantly--especially when I am at work and around 9:30pm each night.

We took a tour of the labor, delivery, & recovery room on Tuesday at our birthing class. As long as the hospital isn't having a busy time delivering babies, you basically get to stay in one room for the entire delivery process (unless you need to have a C-section). The room looked very nice--more like a hotel room than a hospital room. If they get full, then sometimes you are moved out of the LDR room to a different hospital room for your recovery since they prefer to do all of the births on the OB floor of the hospital. It was a pretty slow night when we took our tour, there were only 2 babies in the nursery. I also got pre-registered at the hospital this week so we won't have to worry about that when I go into labor. Next week we also have our last birthing class so then most of our preparation will be complete!

Back From Chicago

Kevin and I returned home from Chicago last night. My mother held a very nice baby shower for us there. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures so I have none to post unless someone sends me what they took! It was a great time and thanks to everyone for their thoughtful gifts. I'm now completely finished traveling until after the baby arrives. No more plane trips!! I'm continuing to get bigger each day--we will take an updated photo tonight and post it here later. I'm assuming that I passed my glucose test since the doctor's office never called to tell me otherwise. My next doctor's appointment is this Thursday so I will post another update then as well.

Thursday's Doctor's Appt Update

Now that I'm in my third trimester, I get to visit the doctor every two weeks instead of every four weeks. My appointment this week was hopefully the longest one I'll have until the delivery since I had to do my glucose test (drink something that tasted the equivalent of a McDonald's orange drink and then wait an hour to get your blood drawn to make sure your body is breaking down sugars appropriately). I also received my Rhogam shot since I am Rh -. They will give me another shot as well once the baby's born but I think that will be the last thing I'm thinking of at that point in time :) The baby is still progressing well. My belly measurement is still on track, I've gained another 2 pounds since my last appt (now I'm at a net of 12 pounds gained) and the baby's heartbeat was strong and clear at 158bpm.

Kevin and I also started childbirth classes this week which was an interesting experience. They will last for 5 weeks. I think we are the oldest people in the class which is funny. I was asking so many questions at one point I started to feel like the class nerd--I guess that's nothing new for me though ;)
