Getting Settled In Finally

We are finally unpacked and getting truly settled in. And I've had more time to post some pictures. Click on the "New Photo Gallery (Yahoo)" link on the sidebar go to our Yahoo photo site. Have posted 3 news albums: One from Carson's first birthday, one for July pictures, and one for August pictures. Now that we are caught up we will get more organized about the albums but I just wanted to get these pics posted.

Nothing new to report. We are getting closer to finding a regular babysitter. We took Carson to France last weekend which was an adventure. The weather was rainy and it was holiday season so traffic was terrible--but we've made our first crossing and I expect future ones will go more smoothly. Carson did fine until the very end when he had a meltdown in the car. Fortunately we were in the queue to go back to the UK so Kevin was able to get out and calm him down. We learned that France is the place to buy beer, wine and chocolate--it's very cheap there!

Getting adjusted to life in the UK

We are slowly adjusting to life in the UK. Carson is enjoying his day nursery a lot--so in August we are letting him attend 5 days a week in the afternoons. Kevin is learning his way around town and adjusting to all of the differences here---lots of small things that add up to one big adjustment! Tracy is busy with work but liking the new job a lot.

Some of the key differences we've noted so far since getting into our house:
- windows don't have screens which equals lots of bugs getting into the house
- we had to buy a separate small fridge just to keep our drinks in so they stay cold
- people generally work shorter hours than in the US and on Friday's the office is dead by 4pm
- people in the UK love animals--charities to save animals were around well before charities to help underprivledged children
- taco seasoning tastes like curry
- watermelon is not very sweet in the UK
- strawberrys are very fresh and tasty in the UK
- milk and yogurt are really cheap
- Bounce dryer sheets cost the about $10USD for a pack of 30
