One Laptop Per Child (OLPC)

Kevin and I just contributed to the OLPC Foundation. They are a non-profit organization with the goal of providing one laptop per child starting where the need is greatest. They view the laptop as an educational tool, much like we would view the role of a pencil or a ruler in a child's education. Kevin and I agree very much with their mission which is why we chose to support them.

They are running a special promotion right now that has recently been extended through the end of the year where you can contribute $399 to give a laptop to a child in a target country (Afghanistan, Cambodia, Haiti, Mongolia or Rwanda) and in return they will send you a second laptop that you can personally give to a child in your life. $200 of the contribution is tax deductable. Counting Down to Christmas

Haven't posted much lately--frankly we have all been pretty busy! Tracy with work and Kevin getting everything set for the big trip back to the US in December. Kevin can't wait to get back to doing some work on the lake house. Carson can't wait to go play with his dump truck in Alabama at Grandma Back's house. And Tracy can't wait to finally start closing out this year work-wise! We are starting to think about repatriating back to the US as my work assignment here in the UK will be coming to an end in June--so that brings with it all of the joys of finding a job and place to live all over again. Otherwise, that's about it from our end. Carson is starting to speak in full sentences now which is really funny. The other night when I was closing his door after putting him to bed, I got a final request of, "Mummy, can you kiss me?" He's also started saying, "Holy moly!" whenever he sees something that looks amazing to him. I guess that means Kevin and I have been able to successfully alter our vocabulary around him as we have not yet heard him say the adult alternative! Phew!
