One Laptop Per Child (OLPC)
Kevin and I just contributed to the OLPC Foundation. They are a non-profit organization with the goal of providing one laptop per child starting where the need is greatest. They view the laptop as an educational tool, much like we would view the role of a pencil or a ruler in a child's education. Kevin and I agree very much with their mission which is why we chose to support them.
They are running a special promotion right now that has recently been extended through the end of the year where you can contribute $399 to give a laptop to a child in a target country (Afghanistan, Cambodia, Haiti, Mongolia or Rwanda) and in return they will send you a second laptop that you can personally give to a child in your life. $200 of the contribution is tax deductable. If you want to learn more about this effort or make a contribution, click on the link above and go to the link called, "Give One Get One." We think it's a great program that will make a huge difference in educating children all around the globe
