Call the Fire Brigade--the Embree's are Stuck!

Really, for real. Today the fire brigade had to come rescue us because we were stuck in the hotel elevator (or the lift as they say here) for 30 mins this morning. Kevin, Carson, and I were stuck in there after breakfast---fortunately one of the walls is a window so when the lift didn't move and we couldn't get out, one of the hotel pool boy could see us and get us help. Unfortunately, we provided the morning "entertainment" for all the other hotel guests since they could see us stuck in there trying to keep Carson from having a fit.

The worst part of the whole thing was when the hotel worker first came to try to help (on the side where there was no window), she didn't say anything so we had no idea anyone was actually doing anything to help us and we were getting a bit nervous--the lift is quite small, and it was very hot in there as well. When she did speak, since Kevin started pounding on the door, she simply said, "Please be patient." Yeah. Okay. I'm going to lock YOU into a tiny, hot, lift with a one year old--then YOU can be patient too.

Needless to say, we laughed it off since that's about all you can do. This hotel we are cooped up in leaves a lot to be desired but there aren't many other options given that we need something that a) accepts children as guests and b) is within walking distance of restaurants and stores. 5 more days until we get into our house!

The other funny thing that Kevin saw today was a large man (~450 lbs) who had passed out on the street. He was okay but they couldn't move him so the police were bringing in a forktruck to move him. Wish he had the camera. Welcome to England!
